The Annual Winter Carnival 2011 is being held on Sunday, 18th December 2011 from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. The proceeds from the Fete will be utilized for promotion of educational facilities in our school.

Please find some time to be with us and enjoy the festivities alongwith your family and friends. As you know the Raffle and Entry tickets draw prizes. This year as an added attraction we will be giving prizes (1st, 2nd and consolation) in different categories. The draw of lots will be held in 4 groups.

(i) Group 1 – Pre-School, Pre-Primary, I & II.
(ii) Group 2 – Classes III to VI.
(iii) Group 3 – Classes VII to IX.

Also note that entry will not be allowed after 4.00 p.m., lucky draw of Entry and Raffle tickets will be at 5.30 p.m. and the Fete will be over at 6.00 p.m.

As you know that parking is a major problem, it is advisable to use public transport, Metro / car pooling. Like every year you can park at DTC Terminal, Hauz Khas Enclave for which the parking charges have been already paid by the school.

Children have been instructed not to come in casual/fancy dresses on their birthdays. However, it has been observed that on birthday's some children of classes III to VI are still coming in casual / fancy dresses. Please note, no child from classes III to VI is permitted to come in any casual/party dress on their birthdays. Only children of Nur, KG, I and II are permitted to come in casual dresses and not in party dresses on their birthdays. Also parents are requested to give only toffees or a small chocolate to celebrate the birthday in school.

I am glad to inform you that the school has taken a new initiative of linking with a University for onward mobility of it’s students in their persuit of study for career. This will help students in exploring a career of their choice and aligning with it well in time.

Indira Ghandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is the largest open university (student enrollment) in the world and has more than 400 programmes to offer to diversity of students. The school has established IGNOU’s college within it’s premises.

A series of seminar has been started in the school, to begin with, on “Career in IT Industry – Direct and Indirect” where industry experts along with the educational experts are delivering talks to students of classes IX onwards.

The school is hosting Zonal Inter-School Extempore Competition on Monday 10.8.2009 and Inter School Declamation Competition on Tuesday 18.8.2009 on behalf of Directorate of Education (South Zone). Our classroom survey reveals that some Junior School children continue to bring to school overloaded and oversized bags.

Parents are requested to supervise “setting of bag” for the next days timetable to reduce load of bag. Do inculcate this good habit in your child. To avoid heavy bags in Pre-Primary classes I & II, almost all text books copies and stationary are kept safely in school.

Similarly in classes III to VI as well, many text books and copies are kept safely in class cupboard. These books are sent back home only for preparation for tests.

As you are aware that there will be major SOLAR ECLIPSE on 22.07.2009 from 5.20 am to 7.40 a.m. It will be harmful to see the solar eclipse with naked eyes. Kindly take care of your wards and yourself with special emphasis on the following, if you wish to view the solar eclipse. View only with a Pin Hole Camera or with an old exposed X-ray film or with well covered sun classes.

Parents should keep especially young children safe from exposure to the eclipse. We would prefer parents of Junior classes to personally drop children to school, straight after the event. There shall be no punishment for coming late till 9.00 a.m.

For this historic, eclipse of this century, the Astronomy Club Laxman Public School has arranged for students of senior school to visit the Delhi Planetarium and view “live” the eclipse as it happens in several countries. Students have also prepared special power-point programmes at different levels to highlight this event.

The School is supporting a few voluntary organizations working for the upliftment of the needy and under-privileged as part of our community based social welfare programme. Students at all class levels are involved with this programme in one-way or another. The seniors go to these organizations and communities to render their services as a part of the SUPW programme.

2nd August is celebrated as the SEWA DAY as this year we will be celebrating Sewa Day on Saturday, 1st August 2009 in the school. To foster this sense of service, the seniors cook food and a ‘Langar’ is set up in School for the needy. Students of Classes I to II bring in bajra and chana to feed the birds and the horses. Students of Classes III to VI are expected to bring one new notebook and one pencil which will be donated to “VIDYA” an organization working for children in the slums. Old storybooks too would be welcome for donation.
